Can I connect to SQL Server via PPPoE?

I am a fresh guy for networking and here is a question seeking help.
If SQL Server was located in internet and i use a PPPoE (ADSL) line to
connect to internet, can I connect to SQL Server via PPPoE?

Yes. As long as you use the IP address, your routing is correct and you have
the correct ports open. The default port for SQL Server is 1433.

To an internet address (ip).
Is this done by registering the "IP" instead of the server name?

You can use the IP address instead of the server name. Just try 127.0.0.1 to
connect to your local server. If you think the ip addresses are confusing in
Enterprise Manager, you can use the Client Network Utility to set up an
alias that you can use instead.
