Can I connect SQL Enterprise Manager ...

To an internet address (ip).
Is this done by registering the "IP" instead of the server name?

You can use the IP address instead of the server name. Just try 127.0.0.1 to
connect to your local server. If you think the ip addresses are confusing in
Enterprise Manager, you can use the Client Network Utility to set up an
alias that you can use instead.

Can connect to 'ServerName' but not to its IP address

I'm using SQL Manager from my Enterprise server to connect to my SQL Express server that will act as a witness to a db mirroring system. If I try to connect to the SQL Express server using its IP address, I get a "named pipes error 53." If I connect by browsing the network and connect to the Name of the Server "Machinename\SQLExpress", I am successful. I would like to be able to connect to the IP directly as it's not dependant upon certain services to be started or configured a certain way.

I encounter a problem when setting a subscription in rs(with sp2)

Failure sending mail: The server rejected the sender address. The

thx a lot!It sounds like your SMTP server requires authentication. RS only support
anonymous and NTLM authentication. If you server uses NTLM then you need to
make sure the user that the ReportServer service runs under has permission
to send mail. If you server requires basic auth then you can use the local
SMTP server to relay the messages. Set the SMTPServerPickupDirectory to the
local SMTP's pickup directory and the SendUsing element to 1. Then
configure the local SMTP server to relay the messages.

I have two tables CustomerDetails and CustomerAccounts
CustomerDetails
CustomerId
Name
Address
Town
Postcode
Email
SearchDetails
CustomerAccounts (Many)
Accountid
CustomerId
AccountNumber
CreateDate
Etc
Currently the CustomerDetails.SearchDetails column is a Computed column
which holds all of the address / name / email data which has been Trimmed and
uppered.
In my search for a customer screen a user can search for a whole or partial
words and I generate a simple select statement
SELECT * FROM CUSTOMER DETAILS WHERE SEARCHDETAILS LIKE 'XXX'
a list of possible matches is then displayed to the user. This works fine.
I now have to add a list of accountid's / account numbers from the related
CustomerAccounts table. So a use could type in a partial name and account
number. I can't display multiple rows per account number.
So I'd like my CustomerDetails.SearchDetails tO contain the value
'DAVIDDASHERADDRESS1ADDRESS2TOWNPOSTCODEDAVIDDASHER@.EMAIL.COM ACCOUNTNUMBER1
ACCOUNTNUMBER2'
I know this is possible in Oracle, just not too sure about my options in sql
server 2005
Any help would be most appreciated
